Do books have personalities?

According to me - Yes, they have!! Let me explain you. Personality is something that defines an individual... their characteristics. In case of individuals we categorize personalities as pleasant, boring, strict etc. How do we label an individual of having a particular type of personality? By physical characteristics, the way a person communicates, the person's thoughts and opinions. You must be thinking that how these human characteristics can be applied to a lifeless thing such as books? But think twice before calling them lifeless!!

I remember my last visit to a book store. Books on different subjects were arranged systematically. While browsing through them, I reached the children section. Many colorful paper-friends were smiling on the shelves. The ones with hard cover were looking richer than those with paper cover. Arranged in different shelves, as if they were displaying their higher status proudly. Picture books for toddlers were really cute.

I always find the books on subjects like cooking, crochet and craft warm and homely just like some warm welcoming home-maker. Religious books seem serene and pure in heart. Even the old dusty books seem to be telling the unwritten stories of their golden days through yellow torn out pages. I find them closer to an elderly person narrating the stories of their good old days.

This is what I feel about the personalities of books. Do you have any different perceptions? I would love to hear from you...
